About the 8x8 Print Size
The 8x8 is the largest standard square print size in our lineup, and it occupies a different category than the smaller square sizes. A 3x3 or 4x4 is a project print — something you use in a scrapbook or collage. An 8x8 is a display print. At this size, a square photograph has real presence on a wall or shelf, especially in a simple frame. It is the right choice when you have a square image that deserves to be seen rather than collected.
Lustre or Pearl — Your Choice of Finish
All 8x8 prints are available in both of our standard finishes:
Lustre is our default and most popular finish. It sits between matte and gloss — rich color and sharp detail without the high reflectivity and fingerprint issues of a full gloss surface. Lustre handles well, resists fingerprints, and looks professional in virtually any lighting. It is the right choice for most orders.
Metallic Pearl is a different material entirely. The paper has microscopic metallic flakes embedded in the base layer that give prints a luminous, almost backlit quality — colors appear to glow from within. Pearl works especially well for images with strong color, bold contrast, or highlights you want to make more dramatic. It has a high-gloss surface, so it is best displayed in frames or in rooms where you can manage light angle.
Both finishes are produced on archival paper with archival inks, rated to last 100+ years when framed under glass and kept away from moisture and direct sunlight.

What to Know About the 8x8 Format
An 8x8 is a perfect 1:1 square. Square photos fill the print completely. Rectangular images will be cropped to a square — the ordering tool shows you the crop before you confirm so you can adjust the framing to center on what matters most in the image.
